Girls in detention – Side event to the 29th session of the Human Rights Council (18 June 2015) – Brief report

“Girls are one of the most vulnerable groups when involved in criminal system, and this because of their age, gender, and their number. Some large shortcomings exist in our knowledge and comprehension of their specific needs while in detention and on what works when it comes to rehabilitation and successful reintegration. During this event, experts will identify the obstacles and challenges that hamper a complete realization of girl’s rights in the justice system, and will share their ideas on the means to protect girls in detention.”
