Children’s Rights Behind Bars - final Conference

After two years of work, the European project Children’s Rights Behind Bars will see its ending during a final conference which will take place on the 15th February 2016 in the European Economic and Social Comity in Brussels (Belgium).

The project Children’s Rights Behind Bars Is a European project funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Defence for Children International - Belgium. By collaborating with 14 partners and ten European and international experts, the project aim to improve the implementation of international standards concerning juvenile justice in order to protect the rights and the needs of the children deprived of liberty.

This project started in March 2014 for a duration of two years is now reaching the end. And in order to mark the outcome of this work, a final conference will be organised on the 15th February 2016 at the European economic and social Comity in Brussels (Belgium). Somme eminent people in matters of juvenile justice will be here as well as two representatives of each of the 28 member States of the European Union.

This European conference will also be the occasion to present the Practical Guide which is one of the final outcomes of the project. destined for the professionals during their visits of the centres of privation of liberty for children , this guide will allow the make an effective control of these different places, but also to insure that the monitoring of the complaints made by children is put in place properly.
