Background paper on attacks against girls seeking to access education

The attacks against the right to education for girls are numerous and stop the girls from fully enjoying this right. The kidnaping of 300 teenage girls by the group Boko Haram is a living example of this situation. However the right to education is recognise as essential and makes possible the access to other Human Rights. This report highlights the causes for which access to education keeps being refused to girls. It deals with the impact and the consequences of these violations of the right to education on these victims, and more generally on the protection of the whole Human Rights. Many recommendations, intended to the States but also to all the actors concerned, it cited in order to prevent abuses and to protect the right to education.
