DCI-Belgium is the Belgian section of the NGO Defence for Children International (DCI), the International Secretariat based in Geneva, Switzerland. Its main goals are the protection and promotion of children’s rights on an international, regional and local level through its national sections based in fifty countries. DCI-Belgium actively collaborates with the International Secretariat and the numerous national sections on international projects. The Secretariat in Geneva also lobbies and advocates at the United Nations, particularly with the Council of Human Rights and the Committee on the Rights of the Child on national issues that are a priority for sections. In addition, the Director of DCI-Belgium, Benoit Van Keirsbilck, was elected President of DCI between 2012-2016, which allows DCI-Belgium’s projects to be noted at an international level.
